Helmet Bugs – Simple, Stylized, and Ready to Animate

Helmet Bugs are compact, low-poly alien insects designed for speed and simplicity in real-time environments.
This set features two color and geometry variants — a Red Spiked version for aggressive or “boss” roles, and a Black Smooth version suited for background or stealth enemies.

Both share the same core topology and rig structure, ensuring compatibility with shared animation libraries in Unity, Unreal, or Blender.

Technical Details

  • Formats: Blender 2.90.1 (.blend), FBX, OBJ
  • Polygons: 2,050
  • Vertices: 2,167
  • Textures: 4096×4096 (Color + Normal Maps)
  • Rigged and game ready
  • Non-overlapping UVs
  • Low poly, optimized for mobile and real-time rendering
  • Rendered in Cycles with simple backdrop

Variants Included

  1. Red Spiked Helmet Bug – features sharp dorsal spines and reflective carapace textures for aggressive scenes.
  2. Black Smooth Helmet Bug – a matte-surfaced creature ideal for stealth or ambient use in game worlds.

Both models import cleanly into any engine, with armatures pre-weighted for easy posing or animation. The FBX and OBJ formats include both creatures in one file; simply assign each set of textures within your preferred software.

Design Notes

The Helmet Bugs were modeled to emulate the minimalist, expressive style of classic arcade and PS1-era monsters — creatures that feel alive through animation, not polygon count.
Their subtle subsurface shading, shell gloss, and joint deformations make them visually appealing in both stylized and realistic lighting pipelines.
