Having gotten Adobe Substance Painter, I was able to improve the textures on my recent models. The latest improvement is Arachnirock, the rock throwing spider. He was meant to be acquatic in nature, basking in the sun on rocks and sand at the beach, launching rocks out of his snout toward every human and elven passerby. Lately, I’ve been porting them into the Unity 3d High Definition Render Pipeline to see the model in the most realistic, real-time way. Here is an example from the Unity HDRP. ...

I’ve updated the textures and quality of the Oculon centipede monster model… /product/centipede-monster-with-giant-eyeball-3d-model-rigged-and-animated/ Having invested in a few month’s subscription in Substance Painter, I was able to bring more detail and realism to the textures, whereas before I was using ZBrush only, which has limited capabilities in final texturing. As mentioned in previous posts, this model is mostly inspired on the creature found in the Legend of Zelda, Lanmola. Here in Hawaii, we have lots of centipedes. They are of the larger sort, with very painful stings. Being an insect lover, I was quite happy to have brought this 3d model this far. ...

Here is my progress on a spider monster I’ve called Arachnirock. He shoots rocks. No, I didn’t steal this idea from the legend of Zelda. Ok, maybe I got inspired. But who cares. Game design is the most intellectually insestual art out there. Everyone rips everyone off. But this guy does look unique. He should be done in some time…I’m developing a few creatures beside him.
